About Gerris and Chris Abraham
Gerris is the AI services practice of Gerris Corp. It does one kind of work: making businesses findable, describable, and citable by the machines that now answer their customers' questions. The practice is led by Chris Abraham, an independent consultant in Arlington, Virginia, across the Potomac from Washington, DC. He takes clients across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
Who is Chris Abraham?
Chris Abraham has built websites since 1994 and practiced SEO since 1998. His search work began in the directory era, just before Google arrived, and it has run through every ranking regime since: directories, links, content, mobile, and now AI answers. He is a BA in American Literature from The George Washington University, with a year at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England. His full CV, service list, and guides are published at christopherabraham.com. Gerris Corp's wider consulting record is at gerriscorp.com.
What is Gerris doing now?
- Testing how AI assistants describe businesses and people, and fixing what they get wrong.
- Building the claim layer: entity schema, llms.txt, canonical explainer pages, and FAQ schema.
- Making SEO changes through pull requests on GitHub, alongside the developers who own the code.
- Building fast static websites on GitHub Pages and Cloudflare, and the publishing automation behind them.
- Measuring AI-answer presence monthly, in writing, for the clients who run on it.
What did Chris do before Gerris?
The long version sits on his other sites; the short version runs like this. He learned the trade at New Media Strategies in the early 2000s, when SEO was still directory submissions and nerve. He co-founded Abraham Harrison, the digital marketing firm he ran with Mark Harrison, and did a tour at Edelman, the largest PR firm in the world, working the seam where search results and reputation meet. Gerris Corp dates to 2012. Along the way he has taught at Georgetown, George Washington, and Columbia, and the work has collected every kind of client an independent practice collects: retailers with hundreds of locations, media companies, universities, nonprofits, and one-person firms with one problem that matters.
How does Gerris deliver the work?
Chris Abraham sells the work, leads every engagement, and owns the strategy, the audits, and the measurement. Specialist delivery runs through trusted partners he has worked with for years, including a long-standing team of site editors and a Google Business Profile specialist. Anything that belongs in a client's own developers' hands goes back as a precise written fix list, and Gerris verifies it on the live site once it ships. You always know who is doing what.
